+This 3 Watchmen print is a limited edition serigraph by Reg Davidson from the Haida Nation.
Three human figures wearing hats are often carved at the very top of Haida poles. In the past, Haida watchmen were posted at strategic positions around a village to raise the alarm in advance of an approaching enemy. These three watchmen are facing towards the north, towards the ocean, and towards the south. The watchman on the right wears a Raven helmet, while the watchman on the left wears an Eagle helmet. These figures represent the two matrilineal descent groups within Haida society, Eagle and Raven.
The print measures about 10 3/4 inches or 27 1/4 centimeters high, 14 3/4 inches or 37 1/2 centimeters wide, and has an edition size of 148 prints. It is signed and numbered in original by the artist.
The print for sale does not include a frame.
